Bespoke Smart Lock Software

The manufacturer's app is built for one person managing their own locks. It isn't built around your roles, your sites, your approval rules or the systems you already run. When that gap starts costing real time, we build software that closes it — a control panel of your own, on desktop and mobile, wired directly into the locks.

We've already built one of these

This isn't a capability we're describing in the abstract. SmartLockPro's founder built tioo.com, a production property management platform, and one of the things it integrates is TTLock — connecting an account, pulling the available locks, assigning each one to a room or entrance, nominating the shared front door, and issuing and expiring PINs against real bookings.

Below is that lock administration screen. Every row is a physical door; the software decides who can open it and when.

A lock administration screen: a connected TTLock account with token expiry, a table assigning each physical lock to a room or entrance with its lock ID, a control to nominate the shared front door, and PIN length and expiry preferences

Illustrative panel — rebuilt with example data rather than a live customer's doors.

When a bespoke build is worth it

Most properties never need this. It earns its cost when one of these is true:

  • Access has to follow a rule, not a person. A rota, a shift pattern, a booking, a permit, a tenancy start date — something your organisation already tracks should be deciding who gets in.
  • The people granting access aren't the people who own the locks. A reception team, a caretaker or a duty manager needs to issue access without being handed the master account.
  • You need a defensible record. Not just a log, but one your auditors, insurers or committee will accept.
  • It has to talk to something else. A housing management system, a booking platform, an HR system, a room booking tool. Double entry is where access control goes wrong.

What we can build

Your own control panel

A web app that works on desktop and phone, branded as yours, showing your sites and doors in your language rather than lock serial numbers.

Roles and permissions

Admins, site managers, reception staff and contractors each see and do only what they should. Nobody needs the master account to let a visitor in.

Rule-driven access

Codes that appear and expire on a schedule, a booking, a tenancy or a work order — issued automatically instead of by someone remembering.

Audit trail and reporting

Who opened which door, when, and with which credential — exportable, and reportable across sites rather than one lock at a time.

Integration with your systems

Connected to the housing, booking, HR or room-booking system you already use, so access follows the record instead of needing its own.

Bulk provisioning

Onboard a whole building or portfolio at once, and change access across every door in one action when policy changes.

How a build runs

1. Discovery

We map who needs to open what, under which conditions, and which systems already hold that information. Usually the shortest stage and the one that decides everything.

2. Written spec and fixed quote

You get a plain-English specification and a fixed price before any code is written. If the standard app would do the job, this is where we say so.

3. Build and pilot

We build it, then run it on a small number of real doors first. Access control is not something to roll out across a site untested.

4. Rollout and handover

Remaining doors fitted and enrolled, your team trained on the panel, documentation handed over, and a support arrangement if you want one.

What we'd tell you up front

Bespoke software costs more than using the app that comes free with the lock, and it should only be on the table when the standard app genuinely can't do what you need. We'd rather lose the software half of a job than build something you didn't need.

The locks themselves keep working independently of anything we build. PINs, cards, fingerprints and the mechanical override are validated at the door, so a software problem is never a lockout.

And the account is yours. If you ever want to take the system elsewhere, or run it without us, you can — that's a condition of the work, not a concession.

Questions

Frequently asked

It's simpler if we supply and fit them, because we know the hardware is a match for the software. But if you already have compatible locks installed, we can build against those.

If your system has an API or can export and import data, usually yes. That's exactly what the discovery stage establishes — and if a clean integration isn't possible we'll tell you before you commit to anything.

People still get in. Credentials are held and checked by the lock itself, so existing PINs, cards and fingerprints keep working with no server and no internet. What you lose temporarily is remote management, not access.

It depends entirely on scope, so we won't put a number here that turns out to be wrong. You get a fixed quote against a written specification before any work starts, and the discovery stage is deliberately short so you find out quickly whether it's worth doing.
