Smart Locks for Government & Public Sector
Councils, housing associations, schools, NHS estates and other public bodies buy differently from a private landlord: purchase orders, invoices, payment terms, and a paper trail for every door. We're set up for that, and we take on contracts from a single site through to multi-building rollouts.
How we work with public sector buyers
Payment by invoice
No card at the door. We quote against your purchase order and invoice on completion, on standard commercial terms, with itemised documentation for your finance team.
Single site or full portfolio
From a few doors on one building to a multi-site rollout. Our standard coverage is Manchester and the Northwest, and larger contracts take us beyond it.
An audit trail per door
Every opening is logged with the credential used. Access can be granted, changed and withdrawn centrally — with a record of who held what and when, which is usually the part that matters most.
Phased rollouts
Multi-site and multi-building work is scheduled in agreed phases rather than a callout per door, so a site isn't left part-converted between visits.
Where it fits
Housing associations and council housing — communal entrances, void properties and re-lets. Re-keying between tenancies stops being a locksmith callout and becomes a change made centrally, which is where the cost sits across a portfolio.
Schools, colleges and training sites — rooms that need to be open on a timetable and locked outside it, with different access for staff, contractors and out-of-hours lettings.
Offices, depots and civic buildings — shared entrances where keys have quietly multiplied over the years and nobody can say how many exist. Credentials can be withdrawn the day someone leaves.
Temporary and contractor access — codes valid for a specific window, so a contractor doesn't hold a key for a job that ended in March.
Working with us
We take on work at both ends of the scale — a handful of doors on one site, or a multi-building contract running across a portfolio. Larger programmes are delivered in agreed phases by the same team throughout, so the people who survey your site are the people who configure the system and hand it over. You deal with the installers directly rather than through an account manager, which is usually what makes the difference when something needs changing mid-rollout.
If your onboarding needs insurance certificates, references, a method statement or supplier forms completed, ask and we'll provide them.
If your own systems should be driving it
Public bodies rarely start from nothing — there is usually already a housing management system, a room booking tool or an HR record that knows who should have access and until when. Where it's worth connecting the locks to that rather than administering them separately, we can build the software to do it: your own control panel, your roles and permissions, and an exportable audit trail. Take a look at bespoke access software.
Questions
Frequently asked
Yes. Public sector bodies and larger organisations are invoiced on standard commercial terms against a purchase order. We'll agree terms in writing before any work starts.
For a contract large enough to justify the travel, yes — multi-door and multi-site work regularly takes us beyond the Northwest. A single door well outside our coverage area generally isn't practical. Tell us the location and the number of doors and we'll give you a straight answer.
Yes. Credentials are validated at the lock, so PINs, cards, fingerprints and the mechanical override all keep working without a network. You lose remote management until connectivity returns, not access.
Yes — an itemised invoice, a schedule of what was fitted where, and the handover notes your team needs to administer access afterwards. Ask for anything else your process requires.
