We confirm the visit and, for portfolios/multi-property jobs, agree a schedule that doesn't need a separate callout per unit.

The lock gets fitted, then connected — cloud account, PIN codes, and integration with how you actually manage access.
4. Handover
A short walkthrough so you can run it yourself day-to-day, plus documentation for your own records.

On the left, a traditional lock: a key in the barrel, bolts down the edge of the door, and one way in. Everybody who needs access needs a key cut, and every key you hand out is one you have to get back. On the right, a door we fitted, being opened with a fingertip.
What changes day to day is not the door — it is who can open it, and how quickly you can change your mind. The cleaner gets a code that only works on Thursdays. Your daughter gets one that stops working when she moves out, without anyone changing a barrel. A guest gets one that expires on Sunday at eleven. Nobody cuts a key, nobody drives across town to let anybody in, and nothing has to be collected afterwards.
There is still a key. Every lock we fit keeps a mechanical override, and it belongs in a drawer for the day the batteries finally go. The point is not that keys disappear — it is that you stop carrying one, and stop handing copies to people you then have to trust to give them back.

We do travel further. Multi-door sites, property portfolios and phased rollouts across England, Wales and Scotland are all work we take on, with travel priced into the quote up front rather than added afterwards. A single front door four hours away probably is not worth either of us doing; a twenty-door rollout almost certainly is. If you are outside the Northwest, ask — we will tell you honestly whether it makes sense.

Near enough, yes — they are different names for the same category, and which one you hear depends on where you saw it. Digital door lock and electronic door lock are the older retail names, still the normal terms in a lot of the world. Smart door lock and smart lock usually imply an app, remote access or codes you can issue and revoke.
The label matters far less than two things: how it opens — PIN, fingerprint, key card, app, or a mechanical key as backup — and whether it actually suits your door. We fit and configure all of them, so tell us what you want it to do rather than worrying about what it is called.
A good one, fitted properly, yes. The weak point is almost never the electronics — it is the cylinder, the door and the frame, exactly as with a mechanical lock. A cheap smart door lock on a solid door with a decent cylinder is harder to beat than an expensive one fitted badly.
That is most of what we are being paid for: checking the door and frame first, choosing hardware that suits them, and saying so if the honest answer is that the door needs sorting before any lock goes on it.
