TTLock vs Yale — Which One for Your Rental?
By Henry Dennis · 27 Jul 2026
Two of the most common choices for rental properties, and where each one actually fits.
Different strengths, not a strict better/worse
TTLock and Yale solve slightly different problems well, which is why we install both depending on the property.
TTLock
TTLock's real strength is the cloud platform behind it — generating and auto-expiring access codes per tenant or per booking is straightforward, and it's built with exactly this multi-user, changing-access use case in mind. That makes it a strong default for Airbnb/short-let properties and for landlords managing several units, where access needs to change regularly without a locksmith callout each time.
Yale
Yale is a widely recognised, well-supported name — for a homeowner or a landlord who wants a single long-term tenant to have straightforward day-to-day use of the lock (rather than frequent code changes for a stream of different guests), Yale's hardware and app is a solid, familiar choice.
For a rental specifically
If you're re-keying between tenancies often, or managing more than one property, TTLock's per-user access management is usually the better fit. If it's a single long-term let and simplicity for the tenant matters most, Yale is a perfectly good call. Both are on our lock brands we install list — see our landlord service or book an installation and we'll help you decide based on how the property is actually let.
